An American Place: The Barney A. Ebsworth Collection

 

The sale of the Barney A. Ebsworth Collection totaled $372,500,000, making it the fourth most valuable collection to come to auction. At the time of sale, 13 artist records were established, including the highest price achived for a pre-war American artist with Edward Hopper’s Chop Suey, which sold for a commanding $91,875,000.

Ebsworth Collection at Christie’s New York in November 2018, An American Place borrows it’s name from Alfred Stieglitz famed gallery.
